This year, the festival is delighted to collaborate with the Sõprus Cinema, where three films connected to literature in one way or another will be screened at the beginning of festival week.
On Wednesday 27 May, the Norwegian director Dag Johan Haugerud’s feature film Dreams (2024) will be shown. At its centre are the diary entries of a seventeen-year-old girl, Johanne. Her mother and grandmother recognise the literary quality of the text and wish to publish it, leading viewers into irresolvable tensions between fact and fiction, and into the intricate interplay between life and literature. Notably, Dreams became the first Norwegian film to win the Golden Bear for Best Film at the Berlin International Film Festival. The screening will be introduced by musicologist, journalist and writer Brigitta Davidjants.
