poet. He publishes little but his work always gets a lot of attention. His book of poetry 2004 (2004) is considered to be one of the most important works of fiction in Estonian and it also won the poetry award of the Estonian Cultural Endowment. His style is laconic and on the face of it even colloquial. The economy of expression is futher emphasized by the author’s attitudes and recurring themes – urban solitude and isolation, the fear of mental downlevelling, existentialist world view, irony and the need for human intimacy smouldering underneath all this. fs is also one of these rare poets the appearance and the image of whom has been uncommonly fascinating for critics. Mart Velsker has written a profound study of fs’s creative development (Vikerkaar 2010 / nr 1-2).
